36 Days of Type 2017

2-3 min read

You may have noticed our Instagram account has been a hive of activity this past month (if not you can check it out here). That’s because we have been participating in this year’s 36 days of type project.
.

36 Days of Type began when two Barcelona based designers (Nina Sans @ninasans and Rafa Goicoechea @rafagoicoechea) challenged themselves to create something new every day. With the help of a third designer the project was born, the three friends started sharing their creations online and it spread like wildfire. Now in its fourth year, it’s following has exploded and entries come in from across the globe. Over the course of a month or so, following the official dates of the 2017 calendar, the public or in our case a member of our studio are invited to get creative and design a letter or number in any style, format or shape they like. Then share it on Instagram… simple, really.

.

We took up the challenge and divided the calendar amongst our team, with those involved getting creative with two or three letters or numbers each. There was only one rule: everyone must use the Sunhouse colour pallet. Other than that, the sky was the limit and this resulted in an eclectic spread of styles. From illustrative, to 3D, to graffiti and even animation.
.

The response to our entries was fantastic and we must give a shout out to the folks curating 36 Days of Type Instagram who featured our work x times, amongst a host of other ingenious entries. It was a pleasure to demonstrate the variety of talents and styles we possess as a team and to join in with so many others producing work for this project.

.

Now it is all done and dusted, we are looking forward to the next mini challenge already… watch this space!
